Services

I offer proofreading and copyediting services, working with publishers or directly with authors. I specialise in academic and non-fiction literature in the humanities and social sciences, and have experience of working with a wide range of texts and subject areas.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a graduate of the University of Oxford, with extensive experience of teaching at higher, further and secondary education institutions in the UK. For details of my own publications and research specialisms, see About Luke.

As a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), I follow the CIEP’s Professional Practice Code.

Depending on the type of project and the requirements of the client, I can work with Word’s Track Changes, PDF markup tools, or BSI symbols on PDF or paper.

I can edit texts in either UK and US English, and am familiar with many different citation systems. I have extensive experience of editing texts written by non-native speakers of English, and also have a high level of personal proficiency in German.

I am currently working towards an additional qualification as an accredited indexer with the Society of Indexers (UK). Let me know if you are interested in having your work professionally indexed by me too.
